Managing Organisational Change

To sustain significant change organisations need to change the way they think and behave. When putting together an implementation plan it is essential to consider:

  • What are your outcomes and how will you know you have achieved them. Your people will be looking to you for clarity about the move from ‘as is’ to ‘to be’
  • How the structure will change. How this will affect the people involved, how this will be communicated. There will be a loss of clarity and stability
  • Engagement. How will this happen, strategies to employ? How will you involve staff in the changes? Change will always create anxiety and confusion. People need to feel involved
  • New skills. What will be required and how will this be accomplished. Be clear about what is expected of people in their roles in the future and make sure that training is available. People need to be confident they can make the transition

  • How will you let go of the past and embrace and celebrate the future. Clearly mark the end of the old and the beginning of the new
